Planning for Small Group Instruction

This workshop will support educators in identifying priority concepts for mathematics intervention groups as part of a Multi-Layer System of Support (MLSS). We will discuss instructional routines and small group lesson structure that promote high engagement and interaction with quality math tasks that ensure high cognitive demand for all learners. Participants will walk away with tools to identify high-impact math intervention goals with resources to support their instructional design.

Some objectives for this workshop are:

  • Participants will be able to design and implement effective small group lesson structures utilizing instructional routines that promote high engagement and interaction.
  • Participants will be able to select and adapt quality math activities that maintain a high cognitive demand for all learners in an intervention setting.
  • Participants will walk away with practical tools and resources to create high-impact math intervention goals and design supporting instruction.
