It is important to have deep content knowledge at your own grade level to ensure your instruction is effective for all learners. This means as a teacher, not just knowing how to do the math but understanding also how students will progress, develop and refine their thinking and problem solving skills within the most important concepts.

When teachers deeply understand the content of the grade bands they teach, they are more readily able to support ALL learners in learning this math well. This workshop is part of our math content series that focuses on building strong pedagogical knowledge while also building strong math content knowledge. We will spend time building our understanding of fractions and how students learn this concept through concrete models and engaging problem solving tasks.
