Early Numeracy and Additive Math Games VIRTUAL Workshop

Games are a powerful tool in the math classroom. They allow students time and space to practice math and truly learn in a relaxed state. Math games provide incredible opportunities for students to talk about math - while also allowing educators to gain valuable insights into their students’ mathematical understandings. This short session will focus specifically on early numeracy and additive math games.

In this 30-minute workshop, we will:

  • Examine why games need to be a critical part of math learning
  • Explore a few early numeracy and additive math games and how they relate to specific High Leverage Concepts (HLCs)
  • Review extensions and variations for selected games to understand the long shelf life of each of the games
  • Address questions from the group about early numeracy and additive math games
