Data for Decision Making VIRTUAL OFFERING- Session 2

Mon, Feb 14, 2022, 4:00 – 7:00 PM EST
All Learners Network Learning Center, Suite 249 Chace Mill, Burlington, VT Map

Schools are inundated with data – about enrollment, demographics, and performance. While all school and district leaders are expected to make data-driven decisions, the practices of gathering, analyzing, and acting on sound data are not simple. It’s easy to misread data, make claims that the data can’t support, or miss opportunities data offer.

John Tapper and Lonnie Kaufman are experienced researchers and program evaluators. They have years of experience designing analysis plans for schools and districts and helping districts find action paths from the analyses they perform. In this workshop, Lonnie and John will help participants:

-        Understand the varieties of data available for decision making, and the specific type of analysis each data type demands.

-        Make sense of common (and often misunderstood) terms like

statistical significanceconfidence intervals and true score.

-        Learn to perform analysis using a variety of data tools.

-        Construct action plans based on reliable analysis of data

School leaders are encouraged to attend. However, anyone who works with data for schools may find value in this day-long workshop.

The first session in this series is on February 8 from 4:00-6:30pm

This event is sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Education and is FREE to participants. You will be emailed a Zoom link to join this meeting a day prior to the event.
